In 1941-42, the American Volunteer Group (AVG) Flying Tigers, a volunteer group of pilots, took a stand against Japanese imperialism by protecting and supporting nationalist China. The skilled military efforts of the Flying Tigers defended China from Japanese aggression and spearheaded the American war effort in the China-Burma-India theater during World War II.
